you got the jumperswitches in the right place on the cd, have you connected the poer lead, check the ide cables

Try disconnecting the cd driver and going to the hardware manager and removing all the cd rom drivers. Restart the computer, then shut it down properly. Now connect the new CD-R and let the system ask you for the driver. Use the driver that came with your drive if you have it.

bought computer, did partition/format etc. booted with Win ME floppy. fine. but not recognising CD Rom (Mitsumi CRMC-FX120T) Should be working ok, light comes on when boot up. Am total newbie with hardware. Can anyone give me a SIMPLE explanation what to do? Help...and thanks!
