Comment: Are there any diagnostic programs out there for CD-RW drives? Or built in ones even? The reason i ask is because my new CD burner had some problems creating the last CD i 'burnt' and i want to know if its functioning correctly (i dont have any spare CD-R/CD-RW discs to try at the moment) Thanks Alex

Reply: (edit)It did burn it but i had to go down to the lowest speed to brun it - and the CD i was burning to supported much higher speeds. The thing that worried me was that when i did try and burn at the higher speeds i was getting "Fixation failed" errors etc, the cd did burn fine in the end, but only at the low speed, and i havent had the chance to try it again at a higher speed. Thanks for any suggestions Alex

Reply: (edit)Nero has drive speed. Itīs integrated in the newer versions and can also be downloaded as a separate (free) program. It checks your drive for bad sectors, speed, etc. Get it at www.webattack.com Also you can try ClonyXL. Actually itīs meant to detect copy protection on cdīs but it also scans the discs for write errors.
