Just purchased a Digital Research CD-RW to replace my older CD-ROM. Installation seemed to be fine. Even installed the CD copy software with ease. My problem is that when I go to put in a music CD to listen, my mouse pointer freezes and then I am left to turn off the computer and reboot. Everything else is fine. The CD-RW will load programs but just won't play a CD. Any advice?????
Running Win 98, have 2 HD on primary IDE and this CD-RW alone on secondary. Have SBLive!, AMD350 chip.

Check to make sure that your CDRW has the jumper hooked up correctly, to correspond with your cable. The lower (middle) cable connection is normally the master, and that should have the jumper on the drive set as the master. The end of the cable is normally the slave, and the jumper on the drive should reflect that.
The above does not always apply to ATA66/100/133 hard drives. It's primarily for older UDMA/ATA drives and CD/Rom or CDRW drives (which I'm sure, would include DV and CDR)
I know this may sound stupid, but doublecheck your connections - mainly the sound cable from the drive to the card, and the speaker connection in the back.
Last but not least, check the manufacturer website, to see if they have updated drivers or fixes that describe what you're talking about. A lot of times, quirks such as what you're descriobing, can be fixed by going to the manufacturer's website.
Hey Intel, AMD rulez!
