Im sorry but this is gonna be very long winded so i am grateful for anyone that reads this even if they dont know what to do to fix it, but some suggestions or cures would be nice thanks. OK Here is my problem i have trying to work this out for days, a few weeks ago i found out that my CD-RW wasnt working it kept on underunning its buffer. So i did all the things that EASY CD CREATOR said to stop this from happening but none of them made a difference, i was ok with that to a point. Then over the next few day my DVD drive completely messed up, it wouldnt open up media files or copy files across the drive t hard drive. It also wont install any programmes and wont load up with autoplay and instead i get this error message ' has caused an error in will now close. If you continue to exsperience problems, try restarting your computer.' This was whilst trying to install Age of Empires 2. I then get a message when trying to eject the disk saying 'you are trying a eject a disc in use, do you want to continue'. This was happening after i had installed Windows XP office not the OPERATING SYSTEM onto my computer, i removed it to see if it would make a difference but it didnt my drive continued to fail to work. but again i was able to re-install this even with both of my drives failing to work which was strange. This is when i started looking for drivers for my samsung DVD-ROM SD-612S, but couldnt find any. This was really starting to get on my nerves now so me and my friend tried everything to get my computer to work, System Restore, re-installing ME which was weird because this installation seemed to run fine on my DVD drive. Then the weirdest thing happened, i suffered a power cut that cut off my comp when it was loading windows up. The power went out for around 5 hours then why it came back on my comp was running smoothly and working perfectly. Then after i switched it back on the next day the problems were back. And i couldnt write disc's install programmes (bar windows or my Nvidia Drivers) or copy/view files from my disc drives. when ever i try to copy with my DVD drive i get this error ' cannot copy (file name): windows is unable to find the file. this item might have already been deleted or moved Press f5 to refresh the view of this folder. ' Then with my CD-RW not sure wot make but in my system device managed is called IDE-CD R/RW 8x4x32 i get this message ' your system administartor has placed a restriction on thsi drive, please contact your system administartor.' which i didnt understand. Then i tries to reinstall all my drivers for my HARD DRIVE, CD RW, DVD and FLOPPY DISK DRIVE, and after i did this i got the same message under the system/device manager area ' there is an error with this device but windows cannot determine what it is.' then they are called standard cd-rom in my device manager or standard disc drive for the floppy and hard drive. Im am now stumpped and i would love someones help on how to fix this, because untill i get this sorted i cant get broadband. Please contact me if you have any ideas Thank YOU (sorry it was so long winded)

Just write the fundamental problem out. There is too much detail there.

I will assume (without reading everything) you have a dvd drive and a seperate cdrw.

So is the hard drive working correctly? Or is it just the cd and dvd that have gone wrong?

Just some clear, concise facts are better than a long explanation of everything.

hello
you should not be getting systen admin warnings in m.e unless netorking.
the last time i saw all these same kineds of problems were with a variation of sir@cam
virus. i would do an online scan at house call anti virus.and see if it comes out clean. mostlikely not.
ok allso run ad-dware to remove any spy ware thats gumming up your system.
and to try to knock your problem down to a smaller size try this link.
but if I go to the proprerties buton at drive D, it will say that I have 10.0 GB used.
it sounds like you have a few soft ware ishues that are afecting your hard ware and its read outs and its running. do the above and we can see what you have left.

have a nice day

it could be a host of problems all working at the same time, do the virus scan first, see what happens, from the problems listed, it won't be quick and easy to "fix" your computer. Try swapping out your DVD and CD-RW and put in some other ones, if they work, it's your drives failing, if not, it's software, then you can focus on the hardware issues, software whatnots...
