With cd-rom drives there is normally a jumper with 3 possible positions:-

a) master
b) slave
c) cable select

i)set the jumper on the new unit to the same setting as the old

ii) use the same socket on the ide(interface) cable that was used for the old unit to connect to the new.

This is essential if the cable select jumper setting is used. (The red stripe on the cable signifies the pin 1 side).

Let us know if successful.

Good luck - Keep us posted.
