I have a dvd+cd-writer combination drive on my computer and I want to transfer some files to my second computer so I just copied the files to a blank cd rom with the cd writer. But my second computer has a normal cd-rom drive and can't read the cd. I formatted the cd so it can be read in all cd-rom drives using the options the program offered. So, Why can't my second computer read the cd?
Thanks in advance.

Burn to a CD-R instead of a CD-RW. Some CD-Rom drives can't read CD-RW disks.

Does it read ok in the drive it was made in?
Does the drive that can't read it read other cd-r's?, and how old is it?

It reads perfectly in the drive it was made in.
The drive that can't read it can read other cd-r's and the drive is about 3 years old.

I am just curious that did you "close session" to the disk you burned. I suspect that you only burn the CD but let the disk open (just in case you want to add more stuff). CD-Rom cannot read opened sessioned CD's so butn a CD and close it's session. See if this helps.

I'm having the same prob w/an old 6X cdrom. If you look at most CD-R software, it'll tell you its readable by MULTIREAD CD-ROMs. Which basically means it has to be a CDROM that was made after CD-R was invented. So that may be your prob. Hope I helped.
