Hi,

My cd-rom drive suddenly stopped working. It's all connected as im getting power. Ive checked connections inside the pc and no problems there.

It doesn't appear in My Computer. When I go to device manager i get this:

And if i click on any of the two i get this message:

I have no idea whats going on!

Thanks,
Miles

It was hard to read but it said something about windows couldn't initialize the service. Open the control panel, administrative tools and services. Make sure that DCOM and RPC are started.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

The message is Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

DCOM and RPC are already running.

There are two sites with 2 different solutions from different people. Read both before doing anything.

Hi,

Thanks very much for solving this.

The solution on those forums worked great.
