CD-R problem

May 10, 2009 at 13:07:59
Specs: Windows Vista
I upgraded my 5-year-old system to Vista Home Premium last September. (It came with XP Pro.) I don't know whether this problem started before or after the Vista upgrade, but when I insert a blank or non-commercial CD-R into my single, non-combination DVD-R drive, I get prompted with a message asking me to insert a disc into the drive. I'm ultimately trying to copy a PowerPoint 2007 presentation from a memory stick to a CD-R. Any help would be appreciated.

You are trying to burn a CD in a DVD only drive?

It is a DVD-ROM drive, and I have only one. Sorry for the confusion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't DVD-ROM drives capable of readin and writing to CD-R discs too?

DVD-ROM (Read Only Memory) drives do not write to any media. There are CDRW/ DVD-ROM drives around.
