why cant i delete a song that i have because it says it is a "read-only"

CD-R disks are not rewritable. Once a file is on it, it stays there. You can't make any changes to it or delete it. The 'read only' file attribute is set and that's why the OS reports it as a read only file.

If you have copied the song to your hard drive or other re-writable media then you can reset the attributes of the file. That will allow you to work with the file, including deleting it.

Right click on the file/s in question and choose properties. You should then see the attributes. Un-tick the read only box.
