Whenever I burn a CD, the last half of the CD or so skips randomly. Sometimes the songs play fine, but usually they pop and skip really badly. I just switched to TDK 80min CD's, as I ran out of my old generic ones which worked fine. I'm not sure if its a media issue, software issue, or what... any ideas?

I'm using Nero Burning Rom 6 Ultra(?) and burning regular audio CDs.

Probably just a bad batch of CD's, ie; bad media, or incorrect speed for the burner and media, ie; incompatable.

Ya I would check the speed of the CDs you have and make sure you are not excceding that speed. This was a real bad problem with older burners when you burn at higher speeds. I would try turning down the speed and see if that helps.

When I write out a disc, I turn off the AV program in case it wants to check whats going on.
I also only burn discs after a fresh re-start
while Windows is stable and always burn at a slower speed than max.
Your problem is probably connected to the new CD-R's.

Some of the older CD-R and CD-RW drives do not support 80 minute blank CD's. Some require a flash update, some can not be upgraded. If it is at least a 4x write drive it should be OK.

Also, some of the real old CD players can not handle 80 minute CDs.

I have never had any trouble with TDK CD's, but if they are old or were stored in too hot of a place, they could go bad. Again, check the write speed the software is set to.
