Since yesterday, both of my CD/DVD burners are showing in my computer as just 'CD Drive'
They'll both read CDs, although they won't autorun (when i tried to double click the drive to run the software, it says: "Windows can not find RunGame.exe", even though it's not a game i'm trying to run), anyway, i got side tracked. When i attempt to burn a CD using Nero 6.0.0.0, using either of my drives:
Lite-On DVDRW/CDRW LDW-411S
YAMAHA CDRW CRW-F1E
i get an error from nero saying that the drive is in use by another application, which i have absolutely no clue what application it's speaking of.
The only thing I have added to my computer in the past 2 days and i've already uninstalled them both thinking that might be the problem.
If anyone has any idea what it could be then i'd be very happy. I've searched the boards and googled it without finding anything good to go on. thanks in advance

Reboot into safe mode. Usually F8..

Go to device manager and remove both the cd drives.

Also go to ide / atapi controllers and remove all of them.

Reboot and let system reinstall them.

See if that helps.

P.s. check make sure bios detects them ..

If no go you could try this...

I did what you suggested, but unfortunately it brought up no changes. And i don't have any other programs running, so i can't figure out what 'application' could be using the drive

sorry i forgot to tell you when you go into device manger.

Go to the top tab "view" and select show hidden devices.

Then delete all you see.

Try it again, worth a shot...
