CD/DVD rom insatllation reboots

I have tried both cd rom and dvd rom but the same problem occurs. while i am installing a game or program from the cd rom, the computer turns into a blue page with words about two seconds and then reboots. It almost happens 99% at the middle of the installtion. After all, the window tells me window has discovered a serious error from something something. my system is : AMD XP1800, G4 Ti4200, Liteon 163d DVD, 2 sticks of 256 ram samsung ddr, 20GB ibm hard drive. The power supply works fine and the temp is not high at all. Please HELP!
Windows XP is crashing. You must go to Control Panel>Performance>Startup and Recovery and uncheck "Automatically Restart on Failure". Doing the above will allow Windows to display which stop error it is.
