I just installed a Pioneer DVR-A07 burner and got Nero installed, but now both that drive and my old drive won't load cds or dvds when I put them into my comp. I checked regedit and checked to make sure the autorun value was 1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom
This still doesn't solve the problem though.

I also forgot to mention that my old cd/dvd drive did work and load fine until I installed the new one. I also tried burning a file onto a blank cd with Nero and it said file complete. I then put the cd into another of my computers, but the file that was burned and stated to be completed did not show up.

Did you make the new Drive a slave to the old drive? Are the jumpers all correct on the drives, as in Master and slave? If this is correct, you will need to check the cable and make sure it didn't come loose inside the case. This happens all the time. Also, the new drive is a Burner, is the other drive a burner also? If so, then one as master and the other as slave doesn't matter. If the old drive is just a CD-ROM drive, make it slave and the new one Master.

My old drive is just a cd/dvd drive, it can't burn. My new one can burn and read. How do I set it to slave or master?

3 settings on each drive. Somewhere next to the cable connection you'll see a set of pins. There will be a jumper on 2 of the pins. If you read on the top of the drive it shows you : Master, Slave and Cable select. The first drive you have in there most likely was set at Master, move the jumper to slave. Then the new drive most likely came set at Master, but check it to be sure. Leave it as Master and connect the 2 drives with one cable to the second IDE channel. Not the one your Hard drive is connected to. Reboot and see if that helps.
