I had my power supply fail... my computer just shut off... so I went out to replace it.. now one of my dvd drives seem to have died. I'm not sure if it's a quick fix or would I have to replace it... I have power going to it but it wouldn't open when I click on the button. I go to my computer and the drive is there but seems like it wouldn't recognize my dvd's even if I use the little paper clip trick. Anyone know if this is a fixable problem?

Have you tried a different power connector? Have you tried replacing with a "spare" drive to make sure it is an internal hardware problem. Optical drives are not user repairable. If you decide to replace it I suggest you upgrade. DVD burners start online at about 30 USD.

Oh well it is a DVD burner... I have 2 drives, my cd burner opens and reads perfectly, while my dvd burner is the one that's giving me problems. It's the old.. lights on but nobody home kind of deal.
