cd/dvd drive not reading...

Hi I was burning a cd that have music on it, using nero, after the cd was copied it ask me to insert a blank disk, i inserted the blank disk and send in the cd tray.. It did not burn the % stayed on 0%.... I closed the program nero and tookout the blank cd..and restarted the system... after any cd i inserted in the drive,i goto my computer right click and press open cd, it says insert a blank cd, and would not read any cd..sends it out and ask for blank cd .
Summary: Cd/dvd drive no longer being recognized - a fix found. My notebook pc cd/dvd drive was not recognized by windows explorer. I even went and got an external usb dvd writer and plugged it to the usb port...
