I have an LG cd writer and I use the easy cd creator software that came with it to burn cds. The writer is about 2 years old though I have not used it much. I have been backing up my hd over the last few days and have written about 7 cds thus far. The last time I burned a cd the details on the easy cd creator's window said that all the files and tracks were written. The writer seemed like it was just finalizing the cd but just as it was about to reach the end, the cd ejected and I received this error:

"the requested block is beyond the end of the current track."

What does this error mean? I have tried to search the net for further explaination but with no success. I have not had a problem with this writer or cd until now. I am using new pro-disc cdrs.

The amount of free space that easy cd says is on a 700mb disc (which I am using) is actually 703.4mb and the amount of free space that was left according to easy cd creator after I had added all my files was just over 400kb. The cd itself does seem to work on the LG driver but not on other cds (though I have not tested all the files yet).

Thanks

Hey Pete,
Are you adding copy protection on your cds or trying to add too much data to your cd? Remember that even though it says you have 703.4 megs of space on each disc, it doesn't mean that the cd-burner can burn that much to a disc. Most burners have limits set in their firmware that don't allow them to burn past a certain size. Also, you must remember that when burning a cd and finalizing, finalizing takes space too. You must leave enough space for it to correctly finalize your disc.

This is what I've found for you. This is an explanation of the error you received:

The requested block is beyond the end of the current track. This occurs when the application tries to read into the pregap of the next track. You are not likely to see this problem unless you are trying to duplicate an unusual CD. (Some factory-manufactured CDs contain more data than can be recorded onto a recordable disc, as a simple form of copy protection.)

I hope that I have been of some help to you.

Thanks. I think I just must have added too much data to write to the cd. The last couple of cds I burned I left several megs free and I have yet to receive that error again.
