I have a 6 year old HP Pavilion Media Centre PC and lately the CD/DVD drive has been sticking when I've run CD/DVDs, but yesterday the CD stuck in it will not come out no matter how I try via the keyboard or the drive itself. Is there anyone out there who can help. I've read about the paper clip trick, but there is no little hole in the front of the tray

Its not on the front of the Tray but on the front of the drive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_gl... Unfold a paper clip. Stick it in the little tiny hole on the front of the drive. You have to push it in far and it will pop the drive open enough to grab the lid. Now pull it open and you got your CD. P.S. Ignore the GICO advertisement the video will play right after it. You Tube has taken to putting Advertisement in their videos. : (

it might also be worth your time and money to replace the drive. they are possibly the easiest thing to install in a PC tower, so even if you're not familiar with the process, it's not a bad way to get your feet wet. you should be able to find a CD/DVD optical drive for around $20. If the PC's 6 years old, you'd probably need the drive to be IDE (ribbon cable), not SATA.

I think he is intending to do that. He needs to get his old CD out of the drive first.

Thanks for your replies, I eventually got it out by going to the control panel and ejected it from there, should have thought of that in the first place.
