Hi, I'm using a laptop which has a DVD-ROM. I just bought an external CD-R to write some stuff to CDs. I used the DVD-ROM to copy some movies from CDs, and after copying 1 or 2 CDs, the 2nd (or 3rd) one is copied really slowly, seem the DVD-ROM was not reading the disk anymore, but after rebooting, it worked fine again, and then had the same problem --> I have to reboot again and again to speed up the copying. Could anyone tell me why is this, and is there any solution for it.

Try this: After copying a CD, shut down the program that you are using to copy and then restart it. It sounds like the program is not releasing some resources when the copy finishes.

Thanks for reply, but in here, i meant that I copied from the other CDs to my laptop first, then from my hard drive burn to my CDs. And my problem I mentioned is when copying from other CDs to my hard drive.

Same thing. With only 256Mb ram and XP, you're using the swap file which is much slower. Following the above advice or rebooting between disks will get you thru it.
I'd consider an additional 256Mb memory as soon as possible. The external drive will be slower than one built into the laptop and it also uses additional resources.
