My cd-rw drive isn't working. It doesn't show up in My Computer but it does in Device Manager. In Device Manager there's the yellow exclamation mark next to the drive and the status reads...
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I've tried to download a driver but during installation an error message pops up saying device not found.
Then I tried putting in a different cd-rw drive in case it was a hardware fault but nothing has changed. The new drive is getting the same status message in the Device Manager.
I've also tried updating the chipset driver after looking at a post on this forum but that's made no difference either.
The power supply to the drive is ok, the light is on and it opens and closes fine. I checked the connections inside the tower and they seem fairly clean and secure.
Is there anything else I can try?
The current drive is an LG CD-RW CED-8120B

Thank you Anupam!
That first link's solution with the deleting the two registry keys appears to have worked.
Your help was much appreciated.
