Ugh....
I installed CDRWin and I think it messed up my registry. Both my Rom drives aren't recognized. Tried Removing them and reinstalling. Tried reinstalling Drivers. Tried messing with the reg security properties. Any ideas???? Thanks

first check to see if they are recognized in BIOS.

Describe your CDs and HDs configuration.

I Have a dell Inspiron 8100. all devices are recognized by bios. Hard drive is partitioned into 2. They're working fine. In device properties, both my dvd and cd-rw have the error "Your registry might be corrupted. (Code 19)" Neither of them show under "disk management" either. Hope that helps. Thanks

Can you revert back to a previous registry before you attempted to mount the CDRW?

take a copy of the last known good registry and the broken one and copy it to a root directory, maybe d:

start / run / command
d:
comp gooddirectory.ext baddirectory.ext /a

that will show in ascii, the differences between the 2. it will show what has been changed. you can trace the source of the problem with it.

what brand and model is it? did you use the driver that came with it? anything unusual happen during the installation?
