Make sure that the driver is located in the root directory (c:\). Or you have the location of the driver in the "Path" statement which is in your autoexec.bat Example of path statement below with CD driver in DOS directory (C:\dos). This way the system knows where to search for the driver.

Path=c:\;c:\dos;........)

What computer, what OS?

Is the CD drive connected to the sound card?

Does the CD show up in your bios?

If not, then you probably have the cable on wrong, or the jumper settings on the back of the CD may be wrong.

If the CD does show up in the bios, see if you can find a downloadable boot floppy with the CD drivers already installed. I know with Win95 OSR2 and Win98 such floppies were standard issue, along with the OS.

Hey Intel, AMD rulez!

In C:\ drive, you should have an AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files
Open them with Notepad, and post back with what each file says.

You only show the autoexec.bat which tells us the driver in the config.sys did not load. /D:IDECD000 is a designation
Mitsumi or somebody uses. So you should have the driver that came with your CD-ROM and not OAKCDROM.SYS in the config.sys AND this driver should have the same switch-- /D:IDECD000-- after it that is used in the autoexec.bat.
Post your CONFIG.SYS too if you need more help.
If you have OAKCDROM.SYS, you could use it instead. It takes /D:MSCD001 and the same switch in the autoexec.bat.

I am having the same problem. I had Win98 and I reformatted and installed Win XP. Now when I go into My Computer, Explorer or through Run. I am not able to see my CD ROM drive. Though if I go into Device Manager the drivers show up. Everything looks fine in BIOS. I have already tried removing the drivers from the device manager and it picks it up, but it still does not show up in My Computer. Please help!!
