Hi!
Replacing old cd rom with new burner. wont recognise, no power when bus cable in, power light on when bus cable removed. Works in other machines.

replace known good cable and check your bios setting
check jumper setting

I tried a new cable but no diff.
Tried it in another machine and it works.
Dont know what to adjust in bios and MB since its replacing another older cd rom, should be the same.

As a former Aptiva user, There's nothing in the BIOS that I can remember that you can change as far as drives go.

I would double check the jumpers
