I booted my pc from a boot dics and have reformatted my hard drive of XP so I can reload the operating system back on but when I try to boot from the CD rom (master) I get the following error
BOOT FROM ATAPI CD ROM : FAILURE
I have set the bios to boot from CD rom and also swapped the cd drive over with a known working one and still the same, the drive is powered up but will not boot, It was all fine but its just stopped working, I have checked all the IDE connections and all seem ok, any help on what to do or any checks would be most appreciated

Try downloading the 6 Xp startup floppies from Microsoft.com and use those to boot with. Hopefully when you get to the Xp setup screen your CDROM should work.
