Cd rom doesnt work

I just installed a new Cd-rom into my pc. But, my computer's new found wizard thinks its printer and wont read the cds I inserted.Also, it said that their are no new drivers for this device.

SATA or PATA? If it's PATA, did you make sure the master/slave jumper was set correctly before you installed it? And I assume this drive is a replacement for another drive...what was the problem with the old drive?

What should it be set to?
the old drive, just wouldn't burn cds properly anymore. it would burn 3 tracks, and then the rest were garbage. then, it sowuld burn at all

Sounds like you don't have the motherboard chip set drivers installed.
