CD ROM -cannot obtain drive info

Just built my first comp and was very excited until I discovered that both CD rom drives and my floppy have 'cannot obtain drive info' coming up on them when I check the devices info. They will not read any discs. Lights are on, power is good and they are daisy chained together. Under SIsoftware Sandra I get a drive access error that indicates that they may be in power safe mode? But I dont know what this is or how to correct it. I have an MSI MS-6712/Via VT 8377 and VT 8235 with SB Live and Nvidia Graphics. 80 gig hd (c) wd with ntfs +20 gig hd (d) fat 32 maxtor+ lite-on cd rom ltn526 (e)+ lite-on cd-rom ltr-48125w + floppy (a)- AMD 2400 with 512 md Dimm sdram. I sure hope its an easy fix. As everything else works great! Thansk for the help!
Get the latest VIA Hyperion (4 in 1) chipset drivers as suggested above, & setup your devices as follows:
hard drive = primary master CD-ROM (or DVD-ROM) = primary slave CD burner = secondary master 2nd hard drive = secondary slave

Had already d/l the latest 4 in 1 drivers and forgot to mention that. My apologies. No luck there. I will try setting up the devices differently to see if that works. Other than that I have no ideas what it could be..?
