Hi, My PC recently crashed whilst downloading an e-mail. At the time my CDRW drive went crazy. when I re-booted the PC the following message came up 'the following configuration options were automatically updated Disk 1 19470 (MB) Disk 4:CD:ROM'. This now also refers to DISK 3 CD:ROM when booting. System restore can't be used. My CD Recovery disk won't work and the CDRW drive has a mind of its own. Have scanned for viruses and spyware but nothing found. Also when I go into system properties the CDRW is not there however if I then delete the CDROM drive in device manager and re-boot the PC the drive repears but goes again when the PC crashes again. Has anyone any ideas as i'm really stuck since the PC crashes whenever it likes. Thanks Ted

Try disconnecting the cd drives, one at a time.

Thanks for your comments have tried all but still no luck. Am now going to remove drive from machine and re-boot without disk drive to see if that helps Thanks
