cd drive tray stuck open

my cd drive tray is stuck open, could anyone tell me how to close it, its pulled out and now wont go back in. I'm sure that there is a release button or something that enables the tray to slide back in. thanks

Have you tried turning the power off and back on? There is no "Release" button that keeps the tray open. If it is jammed open then it's broken.

Also, is the tray misaligned? If it is, you can pull it completely out of the CD-ROM and then line it up straight and push it back onto the tracks and close it.

Is the tray locked open? Sounds like the drive may be physically broken - possibly one of the little plastic gears is jammed, in which case you may have to replace the unit. At today's prices, that's not a big investment.
