CD Drive problems

CPU/Ram: 1.20 GHz Celeron/128 Megs

O.k.- my CDRW drive shows itself as working properly in the device manager. It physically works as well--- it opens and closes. But, whenever I put a disk in, it basically treats it as if it were a blank disk-- starts to read(green light) and then aks as if nothing's there(orange light). CD drive cleaners won't work, because they have to be read and the drive isn't reading anything-- I physically took out the drive and cleaned the eye, but it's still acting the same. What should I do to salvage this drive?
