I have a 'catch22' issue: Any time I try to put a cd in my cd tray my system crashes. I have no idea what brought this on. The catch22 is that to fix it I am trying to use my WindowsME disc for support. Any ideas where I would even start to address this? I have recored the exact number of the bluescreen error code but am unsure if that matters.

when you put the CD in the CD-ROM, Does it spin normally or spins and stops and then spins and stops and so forth? If so, then your CD-ROM can not recongnize the CD...meaning the laser lens are dirty or the CD-ROM is failing....try to get another CD-ROM and try it out in your computer...if it works then your CD-ROM is reading to the trash bin....do not try to clean it, cleaning kits are expensive, for a few bucks more you can get a newer CD-ROM. Who buys floppy cleaning kits nowadays??? nobody does it
