The Cd Drive on My laptop dosent seem to work!
The Hard drive is clean and i want win 98 on the laptop. i use the win98 bootdisk and select "with cd rom support" from the option and it loads dos. it find 1 cd drive which is good so far and assigns drive letter e:\ to it.
I put the 98 cd in the drive but when i "dir" on drive e: it dosnt read the drive. i get abort retry fail.
This happens with any cd.There are no usb's on the laptop i have just bought a external cd rom but if i buy a usb to serial adaptor will the drive be reconised in dos???
i have also got a 2.5" to 3.5" laptop adaptor but the conection on the hd is not the normal type so that dosnt work.
oh and theres no nic card!
