Verify that everything but auto play is OK by opening My Computer and double Clicking on the CD icon when you have inserted a disk. If it opens OK then all you need to do is enable auto play. To set autoplay go to My computer and right click the CD drive icon, then select properties> autoplay> mixed content> apply> OK.

and if that does not do it, Uninstal the CD drive in Device Manager, then restart the computer, it will then detect the CD drive and instal it again, and then Restart the computer again and then try the CD drive - NOTE that there are TWO restarts here.
I find that this procedure usually fixes autorun problems.
(but you might have a faulty drive that will never work again)

Is there data on the CDs, or are they blank?

do what i said in my previous message.
if that does not do it, check in the BIOS to see that that drive position (master/slave/primary/scondary) is set to AUTO

I agree with Cliff. I'd remove it in Device Manager as the first thing to try.
