Having trouble with my Philips CDD 4801 CD/R/RW Drive. When the cd is inserted the computer takes at least 20 sec. to start the Drive motor. Does anybody know what could be the reason and how to speed up the process? Thanks.

Hi
Hmmm well try the long shot. In some cd players, this sort of thing is due to dirty lens generally. Cleaning it with a disk cleaner seems to fix that up. (a disk cleaner is basically a cd with some very fine bristles to wipe the dust gently away from the lens) I would have thought a computer cd device would use a different mechanism to detect a disk was inserted. Try it anyhow.
