cd burning speed

what is the optimal writing speed to burn CDs (music) without skipping? if slower speed is "safer", then why not stick to a slower speed instead of as fast as your cd burner will allow?

hello
speed depends on the drive and quality of the cd-r,s.slower speeds useally dose work better. if at higher speed you have problems.

i always use 8x on music,data,e.t.c thogh my writer speed is 56x.
