CD burner won't

I'm using Roxio Easy CD creator 5.1. The computer is about 2 years old. While I've not had any trouble with the OS, the CD player has seemed a little "wonky" in the last little while. I.E. won't "wake up" until after a few tries when accessing a CD that's been in there for a while.
I'm trying to make some backups and now can't seem to burn any CDs. First, the burn just failed and the CD would not eject until I rebooted. Used another feature of Easy CD creator and this time got a message which indicated a "Buffer underrun".
Should I just replace the burner or is there a more serious problem with the speed of my computer visa vis the peripherals? No trouble with the DVD player in this machine.

From your decription, I would say it's due for replacement. If you do replace it, you probably will have to download an update to the Roxio burner for the new drive.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP! Sorry, I do not check for private messages
