CD Burner is very slow to burn in iTunes

August 12, 2011 at 10:37:04
Specs: Windows XP Professional 5.1, Intel E6500 dual-core 2.93Ghz/4GB Ram

CD burner very slow in iTunes - imports/reads songs very very fast! But when I go to burn a playlist of songs, it takes 20 minutes instead of a similar system of mine that takes only about 6 minutes... and this PC is much newer with supposedly faster CPU, HD, burner and higher memory than other machine. I know something isn't right but cannot find the bottleneck!
Appreciate any ideas suggestions.... thanks!
Gary

Use another application like gBurner.

Whatever you may think of iTunes, it's always better to use dedicated burning software to create music or data discs, as suggested by kuwese above.

I can never understand why people use Windows Media Player or iTunes or some other multimedia app to burn a CD. All those system resources being wasted at a time when cd-burning needs all the resources it can get if you want a reliable burn.

I guess they use iTunes & WMP because they both have cd-creation built-in, but it's not the best way to do it.
