Speed requirements aren't listed because speed is not an issue. Neither is the computer's colour nor the angle it faces - all that is required is that the machine runs one of the listed Windows versions - which makes perfect sense, considering the purpose of the application

so you are saying that since windows 95 will run on a 486 DX/2 @ 66mhz with 8mb of RAM, CCleaner will run on a 486 DX/2 @ 66mhz with 8bm of RAM?? seems unlikely, but okay i will take what you say to be true...

I don't see that written anywhere above except by you. But if you were to check the system requirements for Win95, you'd know that your 486 system will support it, & since CCleaner works with Win95, it will work on your system.

From Microsoft's website:

System requirements for installing Windows 95:

• Personal computer with a 386DX or higher processor (486 recommended)
• 4 megabytes (MB) of memory (8 MB recommended)
• Typical hard disk space required to upgrade to Windows 95: 35-40 MB The actual requirement varies depending on the features you choose to install.
• Typical hard disk space required to install Windows 95 on a clean system: 50-55 MB The actual requirement varies depending on the features you choose to install.
• One 3.5-inch high-density floppy disk drive
• VGA or higher resolution (256-color SVGA recommended)

It's great that you are actually using Google, but once you get results, you also have to interpret them

"seems unlikely,"

I don't really follow that

It's a Windows application, mainly designed to clean up Windows & IE "junk files" - the only prereq is to be running Windows (95 and up) - if speed was an issue, then the developers apparently are unaware. You might just as well be asking "what are the minimum speed requirements for Notepad?"

As mentioned, the rock bottom requirements for 95 are even more modest than you're aware of.

You are only exhibiting a profound ignorance of computers with that remark. Not everything requires a Pentium IV and a gig of RAM, despite what you may believe.

dude, i am not saying even most things require a P4 and 1gb of RAM, but i was not talking about P3s or P2s here, i am talking about P1s, 486s, etc. i.e. systems that *cannot* run the vast majorty of modern software. i would thank you to not insult my knowledge of computers, please. i am not bill gates or an amd technician by any stretch of the imagination, but nor am i ronald mcdonald and do know much more about computers then average joe, and am still learning more, so as i said i will thank you not to imply that i know *nothing* about computers.

Brenda - you are a forum pest, your endless, pointless questions constitute a timesink, crowding out the questions of people with actual computer problems.

You keep telling us how much you know - - that's not how it works, how much (or how little) you do know is more than evident from what you post. Anybody who has posted so very many lame, witless questions as you have... well, their head must be damn near empty.

A MESSAGE TO JBOY

i really never wanted to make enemies out of you or anyone else on this site but scince you and plainandsimple have obviously become my enemies, fine. so here goes my rant, pay attention:

i dont see you bitching at and insulting anyone else in these forums but me and i dont understand why you must be a jack ass to me but apparently you feel you must; so, how else can i say it- S T F U!! do you think i really give a s--- what you or anyone else thinks of me??? you seem to think i am a retarded guy who needs to be in an nut house, i am an attention-seeking faggot, and maybe that i should have my head cut off with a chainsaw. you would like that last one, wouldn't you? well you know what? you and plainandsimple are ass holes, probably always have been and probably always will be, but you are definitely worse then him. you may know a few things about computers, but do you know how to not be an ass to anyone who isn't exactly what you think people should be??? it would seem not. scince when do i or anyone else have to conform to your standards. and anyway this is computing and computers forums website not a f*cking site of forums for you or any other jack ass to use as places to declare arrogant opinions of others you barely know over the net and have never met or talked to in person, use as a slander forum, a place to bitch about people just because you dont like the way they talk (or type, in this case), or take amusment in people who are differant from yourself and/or your view of the way people "should" be. i have news for you, dude: i dont give a rat's ass what you or anyne else think! this is me, this is who i am, and if you dont like it you can just kiss my ass. you want to be an ass hole, fine. but you have no buisness doing it here. so stop wasting bandwidth and Justin's or whoever the hell's server's hard drive space, go jack off to a photo of your mother, and dont come back until you are done s---ting on me or anyone else on here who you dont know but have decided you dont like for some stupid reason. that is all i have to say to you.

i have every right to use, post, and follow-up in these forums without being harrassed and insulted. you INSIST on continually insult, harass, and otherwise deliberately anger me, despite my non-cussing and perfectly reasonable requests that you leave me alone. you have crossed the line from annoying to harrassment, and i will report this to justin. i hope for your sake that you decide to stop being a jerk to everyone who you conclude to be childish, stupid, etc. because eventually you will cross the wrong person, IRL, and they will knock you down so hard. i wish i could be there to see it.

i bid you a *not* good night

I have been reading this post, and I hafta say that J-Boy, XPUser, and the others are being pretty unfair to Brendan. All he did was ask a question. Sure, maybe he's not as knowledgeable as you guys when it comes to computers, but, hey, that's what computing.net is for - to learn more about computers and ask others questions.

As for Brendan - what you told J-Boy, etc, about jackin' off to their mom's photo - that was a little excessive. There's no need for name-calling and mudslinging. I do understand your anger, though. It ain't fun being picked on, is it? :(

I'm not taking any sides, nor do I want to make any enemies here. All I'm saying is that Brendan asked you a question, and that maybe he's not the smartest when it comes to computers, but this is a basic forum for asking questions about computers, and if you want to educate him, do it in a nice way.

Dragon306, Your question was answered in the first response ("Speed requirements aren't listed because speed is not an issue") but you apparently already had some preconcieved notion that the answer was wrong. So you kept asking...and asking. That was the problem.

CCleaner is just a registry/system cleaner. About as basic an operation as you can get - of course any system that meets the minimum needs for the OS will be able to run it - I would think Notepad would require more resources than CCleaner. Do you think that any of those old systems could run *any* software or do you think they just sat their waiting for newer and faster systems to be built before they could run any software. CCleaner is doing nothing more than searching and deleting.
