Cause for two USB keyboards lights to burn out in one month?

Specs: Windows 7
I've had two keyboards in the past month "burn out" the lights on keyboard will not blink or come on. It happens when my computer shuts down and says it's installing an update and then it shuts down and the keyboard doesn't work after that. I've tried other USB ports, they won't work.

uninstall the update get it working again and don't let it install the update. My opinion is new update is either messed up or not working. That's my best advise. uncheck the update or go to add remove programs and uninstall it.

Is it the LEDs or keyboard or both that don't work? When you restart the computer do they work? Do they work when used on another computer?

Oooh, look at all the pretty balloons.

Hi Karen, are you sure the lights do not work, as they are normally just indicators.

Have you tried pressing

Whether they are set ON following startup, is a setting the user can decide.

Please clarify the problem, as you advise the lights fail *AND* the keyboard does *NOT* work.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Never heard of any form of update causing keyboard LED's to burn out and I would think it near impossible. Have you tried these failed keyboards on another computer to see if the LEDs work there?

Unusual maybe but there is more likelihood of two keyboards happening to developing the same fault.

The other possibility is an electrical fault on your computer but we don't know what you have or even (for certain) whether it is a PC or a laptop.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
