I've installed a bunch of new hsf, and a vga silencer, and some other stuff, cut the case to take out the grills, blah blah blah, and added a new 480w thermaltake butterfly w/active PFC.

Once I put it all together, everything appeared to be working fine, CPU temp down to 25d, but when I touched any part of the case, I felt live current, not enough to shock mind you, but it was there.

First thing I thought is that it was the mobo shorting, however I could disconnect the PSU and the monitor was still connected, and I could feel it and reversly I could disconnect the monitor, and have PSU still plugged in, and still fel it. Wth both out, I could not feel it. I disconnected every component, only the PSU and the case, and when I plug in the PSU, I can feel it. I'm thinking great, bad PSU. Then I just touched the monitor cord to the case, with the PSU unplugged, and I couls feel it also... What the *$*#$ is going on?

I have never felt this with this case before, same monitor, just dir PSU. I took apart my other comp, and I couldn't feel anything, as I thought it might be a short in the actual wiring in this room.

Any ideas? I can't believe I haven't zapped anything, but it's still all working. I'm just obviously not comfortable leaving it this way.

When you cut the case are you sure that you didn't hit any wires? Where did you cut it at and what other stuff did you put in their?

Bingo johnoh.

Last night after pulling the entire thing apart trying to figure out why the $%$# it wasn't grounded right, I was left with a box and a PSU. Still could feel it. Put in another PSU, still could feel it. Touched the monitor cable to it, still could feel it. Took it upstairs, could not, with either PSU. Right then the "wiring" job my friend bib on my basement popped into my head.

Checked it out with a tester, two rooms down here are not grounded... how happy am I about this? I've been running 4 computers, 3 monitors, ups, and a ton of other stuff without ground. wow.

Anyway, thanks, and if you don't see my name again, you know why.
