Printer had been working perfectly (almost new). I refilled colour cartridge 22 but didnt reset it. Print output now looks exactly as if it has little or no ink. My question..is it essential for proper operation to reset the cartridge? In other words...is this my problem? And its not a chip reset. I need this printer asap. If anybody can help, much appreciated.

Is this a multi-color cartridge or a single one?
I have never had much luck refilling a multi-color cartridge, the black one always worked for me.

I myself haven't heard of a refill damaging a print head...the manufacturers will say that just so you can pay top $'s for the name brand.

Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

I'm not sure of the model, but some hp's the op will have to work try the printer software to change ink or the software will see the level of ink low and not print. To answer your question Yes "reset"

Cartridge in question is „multicolour“ (meaning the normal three colours), the black cartridge is seperate. Before I go for the option of „reset“ (Im not aware of any print software to change ink and otherwise its a messy little operation involving insulating tiny contacts on cartridge) could I ask if anybody out there has had this particular problem with this particular printer. And thanks for the fast reply, Im pulling the hair out here.

HP printers generally measure the ink level by estimating the use based on print jobs completed. They do not measure the actual ink level so for instance, a partly used cartridge transplanted from another printer will be recognised as a new cartridge and will run out of ink before the low ink warning is given. They also remember the serial number of an empty cartridge and even if refilled will regard it as empty if re-inserted. I believe this can sometimes be overcome by using two sets of cartridges and alternating use. I don't know if this works as I've never used a refill.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
