I bought and install a 19-1 Internal Card Reader. It shows up in My Computer and Windows Explorer as 5 different Storage drives along with the USB icon in the System Tray, similar to when I plug in my Flash Drive Device in my USB socket. My problem is when I put my computer in the Standby or Sleep mode and at a later time Awake my computer, the USB icon is gone and my computer no longer sees my Card Reader. The only way I can get it back, so far, is by removing my side cover, unplugging the connector from the USB header pins and then reconnecting it. Is there a way to have the computer re-recognize the drive without having to physically unplug and replug the connector?

Avoid using Standby/hibernation. It serves no useful purpose if yours a desktop.

Or,..another driver device is conflicting with with your USB device..It has alot to do with your USB type,...High speed or Low?
When your Pc wakes from sleep mode- it only defaults to the High speed USB drivers, and kicks off the old, specially when your plugg-in usb device is hosting an older external device (ie, old scanner,..etc)
check your USB drivers options (device manager)and default to the low speed.

Thanks guys for your responses. Yeah, my old mobo has the 1.1 USB, but I disabled it in the Bios and installed a High Speed PCI card for 2.0. For me, XpUser, instead of turning my computer OFF and ON during the day, I leave it ON and in the Sleep mode when I am not in front of the computer for a while. It turns out that if I do a Cold Boot after awakening the computer, my Card Reader is back On line. It beats removing the side cover. Then again, it's not like I use the Card Reader every day. Thanks again.
