bought an ASUS A7V8X-MX motherboard and it has a feature which makes the MB go on standby/speed mode when you press the power switch once when the computer is on.
unfortunely, i can't turn standby off now because it order to do so, you have to hold the power button for at least four seconds. problem is, holding the power button doesn't work, but it still works when you press it once.
i know this because i tried my old motherboard and the computer is able to turn on. however, when i try to turn it off (by holding the power button for a few seconds), it won't. the only way i can turn my computer off now is by unplugging it.
i tried unplugging, turning the i/o switch of the power supply, resetting the CMOS settings/removing the battery (once i re-plug Asus motherboard, it seems to recall that it was last on standby mode), but nothing is working.
basically, i can't get this damn thing out of standby mode because i can't turn the motherboard off because my power button (when i hold it) doesn't cause a shutdown. is it the power switch of my case or just my motherboard that's screwed up?
remember to bear in my mind that the power button does work somewhat, as it is able to turn on the computer. however, the button can't turn the computer off.
i posted this message earlier, but i forgot to mention that i can't even enter the BIOS for power management! i can't turn on the computer because when i try to, the motherboard is still on standby/sleep mode. i know this because the green light is still on.
