Comment: OK, so i just bought a 80gb hard drive, i set it as a slave and hooked it onto the same ide channel as my 20gb hard drive. The i used the included software from Western Digital to copy my 20gb drive to the 80gb drive. The first time i did this it froze a 29% done. I restarted and tryed again, at about 95% done it gave me an error. I then swithce the 80gb drive to a new ide channel and set it as a master. Again it gave me an error. I then tried to copy over my three partitons using partion magic. This time everything went ok until i tried to boot it up. It gets to a lightblue screen with a dark blue bar at the top and the bottom. It's the screen just befor the login screen. Once it got there it froze. What is wrong? Am i not using partition magic right? PS: The error message i get is--
Reading Drive 80 I/O Timeout Sector=567902393, Result=1 ---

Reply: (edit)what is your operating system? You have to use Windows XP, I don't think that the western digital softwear works with XP http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=mAxLkwyg&p_lva=&p_faqid=78&p_created=1004833709&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NTgzJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=

Reply: (edit)Another possibility: The BIOS can't handle the drive size. Check by connecting the 80G drive only and see how the BIOS detects it.

Reply: (edit)First of, my bios detects the drive and i can even see the drive and all my data that has been copyed if i boot with the first drive and then look in "my computer". I know all the data is there, it just won't boot. If i have only the 80gb drive in the system then i get an error after the POST. It says that the drive is not bootable and that i need to insert a bootable media.
