can't start toshiba after hibernation

May 31, 2011 at 19:27:57
Specs: XP
I just got my first laptop, a used Toshiba, from a friend. Got it home, started it up. It was on for maybe a minute, then went into "hibernation" and I can't find a way to get it going. I will call my friend but would rather learn from you guys and not bother her tonight. I don't even know the model yet--wasn't on long enough to learn anything about it! All I know is that it has Windows XP. Can someone help? Thanks.

Well, sorry this may be long.

I hope your friend is really a friend and not an enemy. Used stuff is notorious for being junk. Not that she is a bad person but stuff does happen also. Don't freak out just yet.

It should not hibernate on it's own. It may be that you have to charge the battery for 24 hours and re-check.

I am kind of suspecting that the battery may be going bad.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
