i just bought a SATA HDD. in the bios, it detect the device. i can see it on bios, some seagate 640GB. but when i tried to install Vista, on the installation screen, it asked me to choose a mass storage device to install. i dont see any no matter how many times i refreshed. my mobo is gigabyte p35-ds3l. any idea? now i am using my old IDE HDD. when installing vista 64, i can see the device on the installation screen.
by the way, the default setting of SATA AHCI Mode and SATA port0-1 Native mode are disabled. i enabled them both but no help. du think my HDD is dead? but the HD spins, i can hear the sound and the bios can detect it.

"the default setting of SATA AHCI Mode and SATA port0-1 Native mode are disabled" Did you enable IDE mode instead ?

i enable them all. if it is disabled, the SATA port0-1 Native mode will use it as legacy IDE.
