I took a 40gb WD hard drive out of my old Tivo unit. I hooked it up to my computer via a IDE/USB adapter, which works well on other drives. The device manager sees the drive, but the OS doesn't. I suspect it is locked, as it was a Tivo. How do I access the drive? I don't care if the drive is erased in the process, I just want to use it as an external backup drive.

Just curious--after you got the OS to see the drive, were you able to access the tivo files? Or did the WD utility repartition the drive?
