ok. i wasn't too sure where to stick this message, but I figured people hanging out in hardware would know best :)
In an effort to get the bios to recognize my 80 GB harddrive, I successfully flashed my Aladdin 5 BIOS (Asus P5A board) to an older version of the BIOS, vers. 1007 (wrongly thinking that the more current version--1007a-- was causing the problem). Then I finally found the most current version which promises support for hard-drives over 30GB (1011_005) from the asus web site. Here's my problem:
if I try to flash using this most current version (1011) using aflash.exe I get a 'incorrect file size' error.
if I try to RESTORE my backed up copy of the bios, I get the same 'incorrect file size' error. Passing note: I've noticed that both the backup and current update are the same size.
What gives? I would assume that if aflash.exe made the backup it should allow me to restore it. I've tried to change filenames so that they have .bin or .awd extensions but this makes no difference.
Please help me! Heather

I have run into similar problems a couple of times flashing a Bios. I ran into error messages that seemed wrong and I finally decided to go ahead anyway and it worked out ok both times. If it was me, I would go ahead and take a chance, but it's a gamble.
Here's some help, just in case it doesn't work.
