Cant rename delete move anything on WD MyBook

Specs: Windows 7
I have a Western Digital MyBook external hard drive [don't remember how many GB] and I've had it for a few years, four maybe, but for no apparent reason it just started not allowing me to delete any files, create any new folders, or really any of the other options you should get in Windows 7 Windows Explorer right click. Please please please if anyone knows about it or can possibly help please that would be greatly appreciated!

A. Check the disk for errors; Click on START - type CMD and press ENTER
In the 'DOS Box' type in CHKDSK E: /F ( substitute E: with your drive letter )
If the drive has any physical errors, this process will attempt to rectify them.

B. Take 'Ownership' of the drive; In Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive and
click on Sharing and Security.
Open the SECURITY Tab
Click on the OWNER Tab
Click on your user name
Click on the 'Replace owner' box and reply yes...
Allow the process to run

Try this and report back

Well, when I did the first, I will state that I am not an expert but I'm not a either beginner, and I don't think the correct box or file came up. It just said Microsoft Windows then the version then the copyright then C:\ Users:\ Valued Customer, so I don't think it's the correct box.

And then the second, I right clicked on my drive and I didn't find the option of Sharing and Security, so it didn't work out.

Thank you for the help, even if I did do this wrong.
