cant reinstall windows xp

hi, 1st my sound wasnt working so i opened up the pc hoovered it all nice n clean put wires all in again and hell happens!! black screen please insert system disk blue screen loads lots of files and drivers etc then it says no disk in the drive please help im about to top myself !!

It sounds like your computer isn't recognizing the hard drive. Everything else seems to be working (RAM, etc.) or else you wouldn't have got as far as you did. I think you should be completely sure your hard drive is connected properly.

thanks for replying !! im trying not to sound simple but do you mean are all the little wires and plugs inside all conected i think so but there are some wires kinda hanging doing nothing after the message about no disk in drive if you press enter it says a problem is detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage here we go again

One of the worse things you can do to a computer is vacuum it. The static charge that builds up in the hose can easily damage electronic components.

OK, so your hard drive is connected just fine. I'm betting that you have a SATA hard drive rather than an IDE/PATA hard drive. SATA hard drives are newer than IDE/PATA hard drives. When Windows XP came out, SATA hadn't even been created yet, so if you use a Windows XP CD, it's not going to recognize your SATA hard drive. So now the question is do you have a SATA hard drive or do you have an IDE/PATA hard drive? Have a look at this picture:

The one on top is an IDE/PATA hard drive and the one on the bottom is a SATA hard drive. What does yours look like?

hi, i have an IDE/PATA hardrive
today ive managed to enter the recovery page
black screen
C:\ someone told me to type Dir which i did and the message is no floppy disk or cd in the drive
