I have an old Quantex Pentium III computer that I was getting read to sell on Craig's list. To remove all my private data I reformatted the C drive. I have ther recover disk that I originally made, and the copmuter recognizes the C drive, but I can't read from it to re-install Win 98SE.

have you run fdisk? might need to partition the drive. fdisk or something similar should be on your recovery disk.

If you have formatted the drive, there is nothing on it to read.
You should be booting from a Win98 install CD to install Win98.Note that most (all?) Win98SE CDs were 'not' bootable. I believe you had to have a working Win98FE system to install SE. The SE upgrade CD would not install from DOS.

Go here
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htmdowload the needed boot disk file to the computer you are on now and creat a boot floppy.
LikelyI want to go like my grandfather did. Peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming at the top of my lungs like the passengers in his car.
