I don't know whether this is the right forum, but it's probably a really noobish question. I downloaded these WMV files the other day from kazaa and I can't play them. When I use Windows media player 6.4,7.1 and 9 it just says acquiring license then comes up with an error. I tried using winamp but it doesn't do anything. Can anyone help me play my WMV files? thanks

No you are not in the right forum. For the future this forum would be hardware (CD rom, HD, etc.) A question like yours would fall under XP or ME (whichever one your running). My guess is you have a corrupt file or can you not play any WMV files? I would also recommend not using kazaa as it will install a lot of spy/adware onto your comp. A lot of people recommend kazaa lite. If you don't have spybot and ad-aware, I would strongly urge you to get it.

I have tried running the files on 3 different computers each completely different i've tried windows 98, me, xp pro so I don't believe it's a hardware problem. I am also aware of the risks/problems associated with kazaa, that's why I only use it on a secondary computer.

If you tried running on 3 separate comps and it won't work on any, I would say something is probably corrupt with the file.

try downloading some more wmv files preferably popular ones since if many users have them they are probably not corrupt. My guess is you downloaded corrupt files.
